Injury Attorney. Urgent: Digitek Digoxin Recall Issued

March 27th, 2009

A class I recall has been issued on all Digitek (digoxin) tablets, which could have twice the approved amount of digoxin.

Although Digitek is prescribed to treat heart failure and abnormal heart rhythms, the existence of double-strength pills can pose risks of nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure, cardiac instability, bradycardia and even death. In fact, there are now several wrongful death lawsuits involving Digoxin.

We strongly urge that patients taking Digitek should contact their physician immediately for medical advice. Retailers who carry Digitek should return the product to the place of purchase.

Digitek is a registered trademark of Actavis Totowa (formerly Amide Pharmaceutical, Inc).*

Actavis Totowa issued a press release announcing a “precautionary, voluntary recall” of all drug products manufactured at its Little Falls, New Jersey facility.

Other drugs produced at this facility can cause fatal results if taken at higher-than-prescribed doses.

They include Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Phentermine and Tizanidine, among other potentially dangerous drugs. Oxycodone (also known by another brand name not involved in this recall: Oxycontin) is a very powerful pain killer and the subject of heated debates over deaths related to its widespread abuse. Hydrocodone is also a highly addictive prescription pain killer. Tizanidine is an addictive muscle relaxer associated with hypotension (low blood pressure) and liver toxicity.

*The drug is distributed by Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc., under a “Bertek” label and by UDL Laboratories, Inc. under a “UDL” label.

If you think you may have been hurt or injured from using Digitek or from other drugs produced at this facility (Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Phentermine and Tizanidine), please contact Carr & Carr Attorneys. The defective drug lawyers at Carr & Carr Attorneys at Law can help you receive compensation for your injuries. Our law firm has been standing up for the rights of injured individuals in Oklahoma and around the country for over 35 years, and we always strive to place the needs of our clients first.
