On February 29 2008, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Baxter Healthcare Corp. would begin a recall of all of its products containing Heparin. The makers of Heparin have been sued in many lawsuits.
A blood thinner that is used in surgery, dialysis, and to prevent blood clots in the bedridden, Heparin’s side effects are numerous.
They can include: abdominal pain, decreased blood pressure, burning sensation, chest pain, diarrhea, dizziness, drug ineffectiveness, dyspepsia, dyspnea, erythema, flushing, headache, hyperhidrosis, hypoesthesia, hypotension, loss of consciousness, malaise, nausea, pallor, palpitations, paresthesia, pharyngeal edema, restlessness, vomiting/retching, stomach discomfort, tachycardia, thirst, trismus, and unresponsiveness to stimuli.
It is extremely important that patients still being treated with heparin be carefully monitored, and only be given the smallest possible doses, administered slowly.
It is estimated that Heparin is also responsible for more than 400 life-threatening reactions and as many as 21 deaths.
If you have been hurt or injured by the use of Herparin, you may be entitled to compensation. Please contact our pharmaceutical drug attorneys Carr and Carr Attorneys.
