On July 9th, 2002 The National Institute of Health announced that the long-term use of estrogen replacement drugs can significantly increase the chances of invasive breast cancer, blood clots, and heart attacks.
Prempro, also known as Premarin, is an estrogen replacement drug used to reduce moderate to severe symptoms of menopause, including feelings of warmth in the face, neck, and chest, and the sudden episodes of heat and sweating known as “hot flashes”.
Prempro side effects include (but are not limited to):
- Sharp chest pain
- Sharp lower leg (calf) pain
- Shortness of breath
- Coughing up blood
- Vision problems
- Abnormal vaginal bleeding
- Breast lumps
- Dizziness
- Fluid retention
- Nausea
- Severe abdominal pain and swelling
- Breast tenderness
- Depression
- Irregular bleeding
- Headache
- Irritability
- Mood changes
- Increased uterine fibroids
- Weight gain
- Fatigue
- Changes in sleep patterns
- Acne
- Decreased libido
- Hair loss
- Can worsen diabetes
