Toyota Motor Co. announced a recall of 3.8 million of Toyota and Lexus vehicles due to concerns over cases of sudden acceleration caused by floor mats becoming stuck under acceleration pedals.
This is the second recall launched by Toyota because of this hazard.
Over 30 crashes and 20 injuries caused by uncontrolled acceleration have been reported by Toyota owners since 2004. And in August of 2009 near San Diego, 4 people were killed in a crash involving a Lexus ES 350, which authorities originally suspected may have been caused by uncontrolled acceleration from a stuck floor mat.
The affected models include: 2007-10 Camry, 2005-10 Avalon, 2004-09 Prius, 2005-10 Tacoma, 2007-10 Tundra, 2007-10 Lexus ES 350, and 2006-10 Lexus IS 250 and IS 350.
If you own any one of these vehicles, it is strongly advised that you remove the driver’s side floor mat before driving again. If you have bought one of these vehicles, or have been injured in one, you may be entitled to compensation.
