Eugene Carr and Patrick opened the firm together in 1973 to represent individuals against insurers and corporations. After Eugene died in 1992, Patrick carried the practice forward. Today, the firm has offices in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, and its attorneys include Michael E. Carr and Scott J. Carr.

Patrick has spent decades in leadership roles in Oklahoma's legal community. He has served as a judge on the Oklahoma Temporary Court of Appeals, which gave him a view of how cases look from the bench.
He was elected Vice President of the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association in 2001 and President in 2002, and he has served on its Board of Directors. He has also served on the Oklahoma Bar Association's Rules of Professional Conduct Committee, the group that works on the ethics rules Oklahoma lawyers must follow.
Patrick has taught other trial lawyers as an instructor at the Keenan Ball College. He belongs to the American Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Tulsa County Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Oklahoma Association for Justice.
Service and Life Outside the Courtroom
Patrick was born and raised in Oklahoma. He served in the Army National Guard, first as an enlisted soldier and later as an infantry platoon leader and station commander, and then as an officer in a Civil Affairs unit of the United States Army Reserve.
He and his wife married in 1975. They have three grown sons and five grandchildren. He is a distance runner who has finished marathons in Oklahoma, California, and Texas. He also plays the violin, reads history and biographies, and follows research on nutrition and longevity.
