As part of Global Running Day, Carr & Carr Attorneys at Law and Red Coyote Running and Fitness partnered to benefit the Homeless Alliance in Oklahoma City through a shoe collection and donation project in conjunction with the FREE Global Running Day Social Run on Wednesday, June 5, at 6 p.m. at Bleu Garten.
Over 250 pairs of shoes were collected and donated to the Homeless Alliance for distribution to users of its services. Based on the amount of shoes donated, Carr & Carr contributed $2,500 to the Homeless Alliance. In addition, Red Coyote Running and Fitness contributed a free Red Coyote and Carr & Carr koozie to everyone who donated shoes.
Pat Carr and the majority of the Oklahoma City office of Carr & Carr attorneys participated in the run. The response from the community was strong albeit the intimidating weather.
“As an avid runner for many years, I’ve witnessed homelessness while running in our downtown areas,” said Carr & Carr Attorneys at Law partner Patrick Carr. “After talking with the owners of Red Coyote Running and Fitness, we felt this was the perfect opportunity to join forces and give back to the communities that have given so much to our firm and their store.”
“We founded Red Coyote to serve and give back to our surrounding communities,” said Burke Beck, Red Coyote Running & Fitness co-owner. “We are very excited to partner with Carr & Carr and the Homeless Alliance to help provide individuals and families in our community with a great pair of running shoes. From our experience, we know a great pair of shoes can be life-changing.”
