Following a car accident, most people just want to put the incident behind them as quickly as possible.
But injury victims can find it hard to pick up the pieces when they’re facing mounting medical expenses, time away from work, mental anguish, and costly property damage.

Thousands of people are killed and millions more are injured each year by dangerous consumer products. These deaths and injuries result from products with design or manufacturing defects or inadequate warnings about their inherent risks.
The attorneys at Carr and Carr have successfully represented families across the United States in lawsuits against retailers, designers and manufacturers of button batteries and the products that contain them. Typically, the lawsuit involves a product that failed to adequately contain the button battery from being accessible to young children. Further, many products do not adequately warn the consumer that the product contains button batteries, the dangers of a button battery if ingested, and what to do if a button battery is accidentally swallowed.

If you were hurt in a car accident in Oklahoma City caused by another driver, it’s natural to assume that insurance will pay for the medical expenses and other damages to help restore your life.
But insurance companies are motivated by profits, not by helping consumers who pay for their services. In fact, insurance adjusters are trained to look for ways to limit potential payouts or deny claims altogether.
According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health, improper car seat use leaves four out of five children inadequately restrained and vulnerable to injury during transport.
When car seats and boosters are installed correctly and properly fitted to a child, infants under age 1 are 71 percent less likely to die in a car crash. Toddler-age fatalities are reduced by 51 percent when the children are properly secured in car seats. Continue reading “Child Car Seat Safety in Oklahoma”
In the days following an Oklahoma car wreck, you are almost certain to be contacted by the at-fault driver’s insurance company. While many of these representatives are pleasant when speaking with you, the fact that you are receiving phone calls from an insurance company you do not do business with asking about your car crash can be unnerving. For some car crash victims, they respond to this situation by hiring an attorney to represent them: once an attorney has been hired, any questions the insurance company may have are directed to the victim’s attorney. There are a wide variety of circumstances that lead to car collisions. No two car accidents are the same – car crashes come about because of a variety of reasons and the ways in which two (or more) cars collide will vary from case to case. These differences and distinctions are significant: The approach used to win one specific car crash victim’s case may not be successful in winning another car accident victim’s case. Many people wonder if the money they expect to receive from an insurance carrier is taxable. Generally speaking, money received from an injury or accident settlement is not taxable. According to the IRS, if you receive a settlement award based on a personal injury and did not make a deduction for your medical expenses related to your injury, the full amount is not taxable. However, if you did take an itemized deduction for the medical expenses you paid in more than one year, you must include in income that portion of the settlement that is for medical expenses you deducted in prior years to the extent the deduction provided a tax benefit. Uninsured Motorist Insurance is not required, but could definitely be useful to purchase. More than 30 percent of drivers are uninsured, it is well worth the money to ensure that you are covered in an accident when the other driver is uninsured or underinsured.
Have you been asked for a recorded statement by an insurance company after being involved in a car accident? The first step you should take is contacting a lawyer. Recorded statements requested by the at-fault person’s insurance company can often times work against you and your case. When you’re recovering from an injury, insurance companies start building their defense immediately. They assign adjusters, review reports, and calculate the lowest offer they think you’ll accept. Meanwhile, you’re managing pain, medical appointments, and mounting bills. A personal injury lawyer levels the playing field by taking over evidence preservation, insurer communications, and damage documentation so you can focus on your recovery.
